Dr. Mona Wineburg Names CREATE's Executive Director

Mona Wineburg Named Executive Director of the Center for Research, Evaluation and Advancement of Teacher Education

The Coordinating Committee of the Center for Research, Evaluation and Advancement of Teacher Education (CREATE) has named Dr. Mona Wineburg as the next executive director of CREATE effective May 1, 2008. Dr. Wineburg is currently the director of teacher education at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) in Washington, D.C.

“We are excited that Dr. Wineburg will be joining us at CREATE. She brings great experience and talent to this innovative university consortium and we are absolutely confident that, under her guidance, CREATE and our member institutions will prosper in ensuing years”said Dr. Ken Craycraft, Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Texas State University System, and Chairman of CREATE’s Coordinating Committee.

Dr. Wineburg will be coming to CREATE with vast experience working with teacher preparation programs through different avenues such as her current role at AASCU, director of teacher education at American University, program approval and assessment specialist with the Maryland Department of Education, teacher educator at University of Maryland – College Park, and as a elementary and middle school teacher.

She will be succeeding Dr. William Reaves, who has served as CREATE’s executive director since September 2003.
