CREATE Receives Richardson Foundation Grant

2010 PACE Dissemination Meeting
September 27, 2010

CREATE Research Conference
November 14-15, 2010

As a consortium of The University of Houston System, The Texas A&M University System, The Texas State University System, and The University of Texas System, CREATE works to provide opportunities for member institutions and the profession at large to systematically explore quality and effectiveness issues related to teacher preparation, retention, and student achievement.

DREW H. GITOMER will serve as keynote speaker at CREATE's 2010 Research Conference on Teacher Preparation. Dr. Gitomer is a Distinguished Researcher and Director of the Understanding Teacher Quality Center with the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and was recently named coeditor of the next edition of AERA's Handbook of Research on Teaching. Information on his current study, Understanding Teaching Quality, will be shared as well as insights from prior research studies on issues in teacher preparation.

  • Of the 79,000 undergraduates who received baccalaureate degrees in 2007-2008, CREATE member institutions recommended 12 percent of their undergraduates for teacher certification.
  • Six member institutions reported 25 percent or more of their undergraduates were recommended for teacher certification. See Table.
